Tandjung Sari faces the scenic public beach and guests can find several options for lounging as well as many cafes and bars close by.

Tandjung Sari Hotel – Still exudes serenity, tradition, charm, and even romance – all in a top-notch location.
Built way back in 1962, the ‘Cape of Flowers’ is one of the very first hotels in Bali. It was designed to resemble a traditional village, so all buildings are low-level, and mossy paths meander around ponds of goldfish and bowls of lotus flowers. With all rooms at least 100m from the main road, it’s peaceful but still within a brief stroll of many cafés and shops (and the four-level mall/entertainment complex to be opened nearby in late 2023 called Icon Bali). Bungalows are separate and secluded behind lofty stone walls and feature an elegant, individual design that marries the traditional (e.g., four-poster beds) with the modern (e.g., sunken baths). The two-level viewing area with a reading room overlooks the beachside path (perfect for cycling), the divine beachfront pool, and the immaculately-raked sand. Worth a splurge, especially for a romantic holiday, so book ahead. And breakfast is included.

Tandjung Sari Hotel – The Location

  • Area: Prime location in northern Sanur. Faces the beach and is surrounded by cafés and other facilities along the main road and beachside path. By late 2023, a four-level mall and entertainment complex called Icon Bali will be opened about 300m north of the hotel.
  • Address: Jalan Danau Tamblingan road No 41. The reception is 100m from the main road through Sanur, a more relaxed tourist region in southern Bali. Most guests use the pedestrian entrance along the beachside path.
  • How to Get There: The only way to/from the airport is by metered taxi or a chartered car with a driver. This takes about 25 minutes (15 km), depending on traffic.
  • Handy to: Speedboats to Nusa Lembongan island and Gili Islands. Golf course.

Tandjung Sari Hotel – The Basics

  • Guests: The serene setting overwhelmingly attracts couples, while the seclusion and old-style charm appeals more to older travelers.
  • Beach: Scenic beach with abundant shade. Like all others in Sanur, it’s not private (despite what the hotel may claim) and can get crowded – especially on Sundays (local day off).
  • Views: Many bungalows are secluded behind stone walls, and although those on two levels may provide some ocean views from the loft, most are too far for sea views.
  • Private Pools/Jacuzzis: None.
  • Parking: Some free and secure parking is available, but think long and hard before driving anywhere in Bali.
  • How to Book: Booking.com will have the best rates.
  • Phone: +62 (0)361 288 441
  • Email: info@tandjungsarihotel.com

Tandjung Sari Hotel – Amenities

  • Pool: The shady, saltwater pool faces the sea but is not secluded from the public walking along the beachside path.
  • Spa: None.
  • Fitness Center: Impressive for a mid-sized boutique hotel.
  • Activities: Yoga classes.
  • Other Facilities: Gift shop. Reading room (library)

Tandjung Sari Hotel – Food and Drink

  • Restaurant & Bar: The hotel restaurant has an adorable al fresco setting along the beachside path. Creative menu and prices not as high as imagined. Also, high teas, romantic tables on the sand, and occasional live music.
  • Breakfast: Included in all rates.
  • Room Service: Available daily during restaurant hours of about 7am to 9pm.

Tandjung Sari Hotel – Rooms

  • Room Types: Village Bungalow • Two Storey Bungalow • Garden Sea View Bungalow • Beach Front Bungalow • Family Bungalow • South Garden Bungalow • List of all Rooms
  • Smoking Rooms: Strict policies, so check with management before lighting up.
  • Best Room: The most adorable of many are the two-level Beach Front Bungalows, some with sea views (or, at least, glimpses) from the upper floor. Substantial patio facing lush private gardens.
  • For Families: The two-bedroom Family Bungalows comfortably accommodate a family of four, but the hotel is not really suitable for those with children.

Tandjung Sari Hotel – Local Transport

  • Walking & Cycling: Walking around Sanur is certainly more pleasant than almost anywhere else in Bali. With flat roads and minimal traffic, cycling is also popular – and bikes can be rented from vendors along the beach. Walking, jogging, and cycling are ideal along the beachside path that passes the hotel and stretches almost the entire length of Sanur (about 6km).
  • Public Transport: Sanur is unique within southern Bali as local bemos (decrepit minivans with bench seats) still ply the main road. Fares are set, but invariably inflated for tourists.
  • Cars & Taxis: Driving anywhere in Bali is not recommended, but renting a car is possible at agencies all over Sanur. Taxis are abundant, cheap, comfortable, and the best option anywhere in southern Bali. For longer trips, charter a car with a driver. Ignore the drivers hanging about the streets and organize this through the hotel.
  • Motorbikes: These are also easy to rent and useful for getting around Sanur – less so for elsewhere in southern Bali. A popular way to reach anywhere in or around Sanur is a motorbike taxi called an ojek. Find one on the street for a negotiable fare or book one at a set price using the downloadable apps Grab and Gojek.
  • Shuttle Bus: To reach any tourist area outside of southern Bali, eg Ubud, buy a ticket at a travel agency for a shuttle bus. Some companies pick up guests from their hotels, but services for Perama, the only island-wide operator, leave from its office on Jalan Hang Tuah (2km north).

Best Nearby Restaurants & Bars

These three places are south down the main road from the hotel’s main vehicle entrance:

Also, there are several quieter places facing the sea and accessible via the beachside path from the hotel. These include:

  • Soul on the Beach – Breezy setting, arty decor, and cheerful service. Well-liked for its creative menu and tempting daily specials. About 300m north.
